Breaking performance records for a digital Denmark
Ericsson’s partnership with Danish digital infrastructure provider TDC NET led to the transformation of its network operations using Ericsson’s AI-powered and data-driven Operations Engine. Our partnership also contributed to achieve a 25-year network performance high across nationwide 4G and 5G networks.
Highlights
In 2019, Danish digital infrastructure provider TDC NET chose Ericsson to roll out nationwide commercial 5G, as part of a major network overhaul, and provide managed services through the Ericsson Operations Engine. The collaboration would support TDC NET to adopt a more data-driven, customer-centric operational approach, and continuously adapt to changing network usage and traffic patterns. It would also be part of a bigger drive towards a new digital economy era for Denmark and enhance its reputation as a digital leader.
Throughout 2020, TDC NET underwent an extensive transformation of its network operations, supported by implementing a fully data-driven approach through AI and automation. It also became the first service provider in Europe to roll out Ericsson’s cognitive technology suite for network optimization.
During this time, Denmark introduced Covid-19 lockdown measures, raising customer demands for network performance and stability. For TDC NET, Denmark’s largest digital infrastructure and network provider, this coincided with a period of its network overhaul, which included the upgrade of more than 3,800 base stations to deliver nationwide 5G and faster 4G speeds.
Despite these challenges, in March 2021, TDC NET reported a 25-year network performance high across its nationwide 4G and 5G networks, with fewer instances of unplanned downtime and customer disruptions, and a more stable overall user experience on the entire converged network.
