Ericsson Cloud RAN is a cloud-native software solution handling compute functionality in the RAN. Cloud RAN is a viable option for communications service providers to have increased flexibility, faster delivery of services, and greater scalability in networks.

Leading mid-band solutions in the Cloud

Mid-band is the sweet-spot for 5G experience. With mid-band spectrum, communications service providers can capitalize on their 5G spectral assets to roll out services quickly and efficiently, while delivering a more responsive experience to mobile broadband users. Ericsson Cloud RAN now includes Cloud RAN DU for mid-band.

Ericsson is also working with ecosystem partners including industry-leading IT infrastructure vendors, such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to bring additional flexibility to Cloud RAN deployments.

Navigating an open ecosystem for high performing Cloud RAN

A high-performing mid-band 5G deployment requires 150 times more compute power than 4G, in half the time. Ericsson is partnering with Intel, leveraging their accelerator technology in Ericsson Cloud RAN with a multi-generational approach to secure high-density capacity solutions.
